Feeric Fashion Week 2023, the 15th edition – a runway for talented students around the world

I wasn’t present this year at Feeric Fashion Week in Sibiu (sorry, guys, a rally awaited for me at the corner). But I watched, through Instagram and all the post from social media, the shows. And I liked a lot the ideas. Feeric Fashion Week 2023, at its the 15th edition, became a runway for talented students around the world.

Feeric Fashion Week – more info, pictures –  https://www.feeric.ro/, @feericfashionweek.
Feeric Fashion Week is the first fashion week in the world to join the #FurFree #FurFree initiative initiated by the Humane Society International / @hsiglobal.

This year, Feeric Fashion Week took  a step forward towards increased sustainability + future talents in international fashion. Therefore, I have seen students from all major fashion universities in Romania, from Ukraine, Moldavia, Cracow, Belgrade, Zagreb, Bulgaria. What did I like?

From day 1…

* Ana Farîma opened the Feeric Venue presentation series at Cine Gold with the “Metamorphosis” collection – about the concept of human transformation throughout life. Then, Camelia Ienciu from the Faculty of Arts in Oradea presented the pieces of a collection inspired by Ricardo Bofill’s famous architectural work, Muralla Roja, and the last presentation was a collective one, by students from New Bulgarian University.

* On the external stairs of the Promenada Mall, the students of the Faculty of Arts and Design of the Western University of Timișoara presented a group collection. (READ here more about MDVTM gala and its talented students.)

The industrial decor of the hall at Festival Lake proved perfect for the two presentations. First, the two winning students of the Idea Moda competition launched by New Bulgarian University presented the winning works: Teodora Chifutis and Annie Hadzhieva.

Then, Sophia Katsimicha, representing Athens Fashion Club, delighted the audience with a collection inspired by a hybrid between the designer’s search for individuality through dystopian aesthetics, tradition and a slow approach to creating in an era of industrialization.

The last presentation of the day brought the guests to the Prodial sorting station in Tălmaciu, where it was the turn of the students of the University of Arts in Belgrade to present their works from their years of study. The collection titled “24” explores the intersection of fashion and the performing arts.

From day 2…

The second day of Feeric Fashion Week started with presentations in the Feeric Venue, with students from the University of Krakow and the International Balkan University. (READ here – about Polish design and fashion)

Then Promenada Sibiu returned with a new edition of the Synergia collection, presented in an atypical space, in the above-ground parking of the mall.

In the afternoon Hooldra and Alexandru Fediuc from the University of Arts in Iași presented two new collections at Festival Lake and in the evening, Feeric Fashion Week guests arrived at Colț de Rai for an equestrian presentation, where thoroughbred horses intersected with the pieces of the collection made by the University of Arts and Design in Cluj Napoca. From day 3…

On the last day of the fashion shows, the students from UNARTE Bucharest presented the largest collective collection, of 40 pieces, in the geometric setting of the Boromir factory. (See here all the UNArte collections from 2023 gala).

In the afternoon, we returned to the past, to the Warp of Times. The last individual presentation of this edition took place on the pedestrian walkway that connects the courtyard of the Brukenthal Museum to the Împaratul Romanilor hotel. The public saw here the collective collection made by the students of the UFEG Faculty in Ukraine.

As every year, the Feeric Gala drew the curtain on Feeric Fashion Week. Huet Square hosted the collections signed by Georgia Chioni from Athens Fashion Club, Kimono & Me, Bujra Al Hajar, and the students of the Faculty of Textile Technology of the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Applied Arts, Helwan University and the Academy of Music and Fine Arts in Chisinau.

Feeric Fashion Week is an event organized by the Mitichi Foundation and co-financed by the Sibiu City Hall. Main partners: Ford Sibiu and Promenada Sibiu.
