More than 40 fashion collections (graduation & master), hundreds of outfits of all kinds, cool things to watch and a tone of emotions: the students of UNArte Fashion Design department have presented their designs. UNArte 2023: art, performance and fashion in one show.
As usual, when I have to see a few hundreds of outfits in one evening, I stay for a while to put my thoughts in order. And to decide what was hot and what was not. As usual, there were some good collections at UNArte 2023; there were some very nice pieces in one collection and some which shouldn’t been there. There were interesting ideas with some deficit in execution and there were some very coherent lines that could stay, in a moment, on a store’ shelves.

As for me… I loved the idea of making sport outfits from actual sport gear at Luana Prădatu (Storm Chasers) and the beautiful prints from Ramona Bahrim (Equillibrium). I admired the Robert Axente collection (Mad Woman), especially the shirts, the minimalist vibe and the floral details. I put Silvia Stanciu’s collection (Hello, can you hear me?) in a favourite folder and I am thinking of trying the gigantic ear jacket in one outfit.
I liked the black blazers from Roxana Nicolae, Mircea Nicolae, Elena Sîia (She used to be mine) and the hand painted fabrics from Antonia Țicu designs (Mistery). Speaking about prints, I found interesting the printed dresses of Oxana Eșanu (Armaghedon) and the idea of imagining electronic circuits on fabrics at Dafinița Buzdugan (UFO). The vibe of colours and geometrical approach of Tudor Iliuță (Juliana’s Bangkok) made me smile and I would try for an office day the neutral minimalist with a twist creations of Cristina Alexandru ((In)corporate). Last, but not the least, very nice idea at Ariana Gîrneață (Elisabeth’s Flowers) – loved the detachable flowers!
The special UNArte B.A. 2023 prizes were for Daniel Radu (and his collection Alchemy) and Ionuț Răzvan (and his collection Nobody Finds me attractive). Robert Axente collection (Mad Woman) – was the winner of Molecule-F prize this year.
