4 contemporary artists open the artistic year at Arsmonitor Gallery – Florina Drăguș, Saint Machine, Beniamin Popescu and Radu Pandele. The exhibition “New Artifacts” proposes a meditation on the prehistoric and contemporary dimension of the phenomenon of technicality, in the broadest sense of the term, as a defining element of the human horizon.

Mobius Gallery – Roman Tolici “New Hope”: February 5 – February 27, 2025 at Timișoara

“New Hope” brings together a selection of recent works, made in the last four years, which represent a deep reflection on the major transformations that have redefined the contemporary world, both at the macro, social and political level, and at the micro level, of individual experiences. (The exhibition is an itinerant one – in 5 cities in Romania).

MARe / Museum of Recent Art – “All Ours Today”: 13 February – 25 May 2025

MARe presents, for the first time, part of its international contemporary art collection, bringing together more than 50 artists from 20 countries, including Giorgio de Chirico, Lucio Fontana, Antony Gormley, Bridget Riley, Richard Serra, Huguette Caland, Olafur Eliasson – artists whose works can be found in the collections of the world’s great museums, such as MoMA, Tate or Pompidou, and explore the dialogue between figurative and abstract art.

Mobius Gallery & Amzei Creative Corner – until March 1st, 2025

This year, LOVE becomes CONCRETE in Amzei Square through an exhibition presenting a selection of works from two private art collections: Cicirean and Rus. With works by 25 artists from 6 countries, made between 1970 and 2024, the exhibition addresses the themes of love, attention and compassion, starting from the deeply personal act of collecting.

Gaep – Răzvan Anton: “Fading Studies” – February 28 – April 12, 2025

“Fading Studies” is an exhibition of new works by Anton based on a collection of family films. It is about 8mm footage taken mostly by the artist’s father in the 70s and 80s. They form the basis of a substantial group of heliographs, as well as a two-channel video, Archival Study (Places and Portraits), which will be projected in the gallery.

Catinca Tăbăcaru Gallery, in collaboration with Atelier 35 – „What Knots Knot Knots” – from 20 februarie

Ioana Mincu’s solo exhibition in Bucharest is a visual exploration of the interdependencies between matter, time, and the imaginary. The exhibition recontextualizes nature as both sanctuary and force, a presence that nurtures and consumes in equal measure.

Galeria Posibilă – Luca Florian – “In The Living Room Shadows Burn” – February 6 – March 22, 2025

Divided between two locations – Galeria Posibilă (București) and the Zina Gallery (Cluj) – the exhibition explores how artworks transform when moved from one place to another, oscillating between the intimate architectures of private life and the neutrality imposed by public spaces. An exhibition in two spaces that tests the boundaries between public and private, at the intersection of privacy and public. Luca Florian’s paintings stay in Bucharest until March 22, then, together with other works from the artist’s studio, they leave for Cluj to Galeria Zina.

Galeria Design 15 – “Touch my Dream*” – Melinda Rus – until 28 February

“Touch my Dream. / Blurred lines. / Whispers of the Absurd. / The Surreal, within. / The Look, the Kiss, the Touch. My artistic journey started a few years ago. In the beginning, collage was play, experiment, sometimes therapy. I was drawn to making collages as they require both sharp conceptualizing and precise manual labour. The hobby rapidly evolved into a passion, and later a necessity and an important part of my identity. The messy desk filled with cut-outs from magazines and art catalogues became the norm”, says the artist.

Kulterra – “Army of Me”- Cristian Moldovan – February 13 to March 3, 2025

The exhibition brings a critique of how the United States ideologically or militarily dominates the economies and cultures of other nations. The mutant soldiers created by Moldovan Cristian represent the fruits of this successful American business, the perpetual war. MOLD chose, not by chance, the most famous American cartoon character, Mickey Mouse, to model his “super heroes” who stopped entire cultures and nations from their natural evolution.

Cărturești Verona X Bucharest Collage Collective & Celula de Artă – “Muzica inimii”, Cristiana Bucureci – 28 February to 13 of April

Through a series of analog collages, this collection combines the nostalgia of vinyl records with paper cutouts, depicting iconic movie stars. In this artistic exploration, the artist invites the viewer to reflect: How does the music of your heart sound? Is what we see in movies or read in books true and what are the nuances of love?
