This year, more than ever, was very difficult for me to choose only a couple of designers to present here. Therefore, with the mention that you can see hundreds of others talented and interesting jewelry designers in these three days at the beginning of October, I present you 10 Romanian Jewelry Designers to watch at ROJW 2024.

1. Alina Tudorache – @designed.by.alina.tudorache

What is the piece of jewelry that can give you good mood, power and creativity?
Earrings. Because the psychological effects of wearing earrings are similar to other forms of self-adornment, they can enhance mood, boost confidence, evoke memories, and even foster creativity by making one feel good, empowered and visually stimulated.

What is the main concept of the collection for ROJW 2024?
My collection is called “The Story of the maple symphony” and it is a dance between brass, glass and porcelain, that combines nature and art in jewelry, rendering the majestic bark of the maple tree.
What we should look for (the most interesting, most precious piece on the collection, the one with the most interesting story)?
The most interesting and precious piece in my collection is a statement necklaces. The maple tree has a deep meaning for me, and I wanted to capture this feeling. This neckless isn’t just a piece of jewelry, it’s a story, a memory and a testament to the magic that can happen when one truly connects with nature and allows that connection to inspire something beautiful.

2. Andreea Cucu – @fow.jewels

What is the piece of jewelry that can give you good mood, power and creativity? Why? 
The ring strikes me as one of the most powerful pieces of jewelry due to its profound impact on our mood. In a world where our interactions and activities are often mediated through touch and the use of our hands, the ring becomes a deeply personal and intimate symbol. This intimacy is stronger because you can physically feel the ring and hold it tightly in moments of happiness, but also distress, providing you with strength and courage. More than any other piece of jewelry, I believe the ring is primarily for you rather than for others.

What is the main concept of the collection for ROJW 2024 – and what we should look for (the most interesting / most precious piece in the collection, the one with the most interesting story)
Collection concept is “Emotional Depths”. If feelings could be portrayed, how would they look? Each piece of jewelry portrays the complexity and depth of our dynamic nature, where emotions grow, blend, cover, and sometimes strangle each other, creating a rich and often contradictory inner landscape. Most of the time, emotions evolve and influence each other, showing how joy turns into sorrow, hope into despair, and back again. Some of them, like rage and passion, explode with energy, breaking through any surface that tries to contain them. Navigating our inner selves requires a willingness to explore our depths, despite the fear of what we might find. Even from the purest love, rays of jealousy, insecurities and doubts can emerge. By envisioning our feelings, I hope we can gain a deeper appreciation for the power and beauty of our inner lives and explore this landscape with greater empathy and understanding.

3. Bianca Bădescu – Koru Concept – @koru.concept

What is the piece of jewelry that can give you good mood, power and creativity? Why? 
I love wearing multiple rings, combining them. Throughout the day, I can see them from different angles while my hands are moving, sometimes it’s just a glimpse, sometimes my eyes rest looking at them during short breaks or moments of reflection. The rings that I create are rough, imperfect and as I stare at them, besides discovering every time the beauty in imperfections, they give me this feeling of freedom, a playful and creative vibe, as I could always transform them, like there is no ending, no limits for our thoughts and feelings, for our creativity, there are only suspension dots.

What is the main concept of the collection for ROJW 2024 – and what we should look for (the most interesting / most precious piece in the collection, the one with the most interesting story)
My collection for ROJW 2024 is called “Illuminating Space”. There is a message that I want to pass on through this collection: Whenever in doubt, give yourself some space. Clear up your mind. When you are too close to something or someone, you cannot see it clearly. When your emotions are too strong, the truth gets blurry. You won’t be able to see it and you will also miss the big picture. Take some time, create some space, allow yourself the freedom to put some distance between you and life situations, to take the pressure off. The empty space left in every piece from this collection emphasizes the shapes surrounding it, allowing us to see those shapes clearer and brighter. Do not forget that space has an illuminating power.

4. Cătălina Scotnițchi Meystre – @catalina.scotnitchi

What is the piece of jewelry that can give you good mood, power and creativity? Why? 
Certainly the brooch! Since the beginning of its existence, the brooch had various functions and different symbols. I like the coded messages it can transmit and the fact that it has two faces: the front of the brooch for the one who looks at it (with all the message, symbolism and militant scope it can have), and the back side assign only for the person who wears it, with all the power of the emotional charge.

What is the main concept of the collection for ROJW 2024 – and what we should look for (the most interesting / most precious piece in the collection, the one with the most interesting story).
The collection “Urban prints I Human prints” reveals the architectural memory of the city of Bucharest before and after the destruction in the last decades of Communism. It is a collection about stories told by both buildings and humans, bringing back to life memories of places and bodies. A tribute to memory as well as a base for identity and as a burden that needs to be shared. The message reminds us that while a political project leaves its mark on bodies (and souls), each body is also a territory from which to think other ways of living and being together, taking into account the stories of each individual person. That’s why each piece of the collection is important, as much as the story of each one’s past. I hope bringing it “at home” will reveal a lot of memories and stories too.

5. Monica Iacovenco – Icrushenko Jewelry – @icrushenko_jewelry

What is the piece of jewelry that can give you good mood, power and creativity? Why? 
Generally speaking, for me, the most stimulating piece of jewelry is the ring, worn on the middle finger on the right hand. Preferably a big, geometric one, that I can feel & touch while I’m thinking, drawing or working on the bench. It’s like the spinning think in Inception – it reminds me who I am and why I am here whenever I need such a reminder. It is, however, uncomfortable and sometimes unsafe to wear during the more delicate stages of making a jewelry, so then I wear a dainty knuckle ring. Not having a knuckle ring feels strangely like being naked. For the good mood though, the right pieces of jewelry are the earrings. Long, light and delicately dangling, flattering the shape of the face and accenting the best features. For women, I find those earrings the single most empowering element, in partnership with the high heels, of course. But the right pair of earrings make me feel on top of the world.

“CHAOS” collection is a medium to explore the complexities of war and its profound impact. The juxtaposition of shiny, geometric-shaped sterling silver and oxidized, organic-shaped copper serves as a visual narrative, symbolizing both the regimented order of the army and the deeply human elements that define the human experience in times of conflict. Each piece in this collection tells a story of contrasts and resilience. The sterling silver components, with their shiny surfaces and precise geometric shapes, embody the disciplined rigor and structure of the military. These elements represent the order and symmetry often associated with war, highlighting the strength and resilience found in the face of adversity. On the other hand, the oxidized copper components convey a poignant human touch, capturing the essence of individual experiences and emotions in the midst of chaos. The organic shapes and weathered appearance of the copper symbolize the profound impact of war on humanity—reflecting the resilience, vulnerability, and adaptability of the human spirit.
As you explore the CHAOS collection, you’ll find a profound fusion of contrasting elements that mirror the duality of war. These pieces transcend traditional notions of jewelry, becoming wearable art that engages with the complexities of our shared history. This collection is a poignant reminder that even in the most challenging circumstances, we do find potential for harmony and resilience. CHAOS invites you to wear these pieces not only as adornments but as symbols of contemplation. Of reflection and collective hope for a world where harmony can prevail over discord.

6. Iuliana Voicu – @liaphoriastudio

What is the piece of jewelry that can give you good mood, power and creativity? Why? 
As a jewelry creator, I often “sit” in the place of those I address and try to satisfy all their requirements/desires. The “perfect” jewel is the one that completes you, that makes you feel appreciated, that makes curious eyes look for you, that, if you don’t wear it or you forgot to take it, makes you… “imperfect”!

What is the main concept of the collection for ROJW 2024 – and what we should look for (the most interesting / most precious piece in the collection, the one with the most interesting story)?
The “Parts of the Soul” collection starts from the main concept that the human soul has 3 parts: reason, spirit and appetite. Starting from here, my new collection wants to show that the parts of the soul are the pieces of our vital energy and wants to include them together in such a way that they don’t “migrate” but stay with us, in a perfect balance! If we could imagine a geometric shape that would give us security and confidence, I think many of us would say that they thought of… the circle. And if we were to draw the soul made up of the 3 parts listed above, we would easily sketch 3 concentric circles starting from the smallest one which would represent reason, continuing with the middle circle which would represent the spirit and ending with the large circle which would represent the appetite! This is what I tried to capture in this collection, faces reproduced in various moments of life, calm faces, scared faces, resigned faces, all detached from the endless book of our existence.

7. Oana Galmati – @oanagalmati

What is the piece of jewelry that can give you good mood, power and creativity? Why? 
The sphere ring is by far my most cherished piece of jewelry. I had envisioned this design for a long time, and finally, after three weeks of work, I brought it to life. At first glance, it seems like a heavy, formidable piece, but once it’s on your finger, you realize how effortlessly it fits. It’s a lot like life, things can seem daunting until you actually dive in, only to discover they’re not as hard as they seemed. Wearing this ring gives you a sense of power and a boost of positivity, like you can take on anything that comes your way, all while staying creative in the process.

What is the main concept of the collection for ROJW 2024 – and what we should look for (the most interesting / most precious piece in the collection, the one with the most interesting story)?
The concept of the collection is inspired by the Italian word “divenire” meaning to become. “Divenire” blends the elegance of silver with the warmth of brass, creating a timeless, unexpected allure. Crafted with passion, each piece embodies minimalism, featuring clean lines and profound designs. The collection showcases floating spheres, symbolizing life’s essence and the constant evolution of our journey. These spheres move with the wearer, representing life’s ever-changing nature and the beauty of transformation. Each piece tells a story of becoming, a journey of embracing simplicity and the transformative power of life. The most interesting piece of the collection is the square brooch. It captivates with its clean, sharp lines, but what truly fascinates is the striking sound it makes when you turn it to the side, reminiscent of the chilling, metallic slice of a guillotine. Therefore you will notice many silver spheres emerging and finding their way through the chaos of life, metaphorically speaking. 

8. Vlad Coman – OHM Jewelry – @ohm_jewellery_studio

What is the piece of jewelry that can give you good mood, power and creativity? Why? 
One piece of jewelry that I have made and still inspires me is called “Icarus” from the collection “Architect of My Own Destruction”. It is a piece that I have made when my life was not going too well, and for me at that moment, there was a bi change in mentality that happened. The piece is a small statue that depicts Icarus escaping the maze but doesn’t realize that it is still tethered to it, and he can’t escape. For me it is a token of remembrance, it gives me strength because it makes me realize that I went through that period of my life “successfully” and I have dealt with what I had to deal with.

What is the main concept of the collection for ROJW 2024 – and what we should look for (the most interesting / most precious piece in the collection, the one with the most interesting story)? 
This year I started a collection that will be split into three parts, the first one will be exhibited at the ROJW 2024 fair area. It is a story of the development of a human’s individual consciousness. From the moment where the individual’s actions are a simple repercussion of the environment that they are in , a life without purpose I would say, to the moment of becoming wise where the individual already knows who they are, and why are they doing what they’re doing.
The first part is called “Ars Alchemica – Nigredo”, and I will be telling the story through a sequence of alchemical symbols that I find representative to the story, transformed into jewelry pieces. I have a couple favorites, but I invite the viewers to see exactly which one they find inspiring, as the main purpose of the collection is to spark a conversation with the viewer, because I find that each of us has gone through something similar at some point in time. I am going to ask the viewers to tell me which one they find the most empowering, as each piece is a memento for that specific point in time that they hold dearly in their hearths.

9. Adelina Petcan – @human.apj 

What is the piece of jewelry that can give you good mood, power and creativity? Why? 
I believe that many of the statement pieces I’ve designed over the years have the ability to uplift my mood and spark my creativity. My most recent creation is a neck piece made of silver flowers and semi-precious beads from my latest jewellery collection, Herbaria. Every time I wear it, I experience an incredible feeling. Maybe it’s because with statement pieces, I get to create more freely and therefore be more authentic.

What is the main concept of the collection for ROJW 2024 – and what we should look for (the most interesting / most precious piece in the collection, the one with the most interesting story)? 
Growing up, I witnessed my crafty mother mend and work with various crafts around the house. One craft that recently resurfaced in my memory was pressed flower art. Looking back at these household traditions through my childhood lens, I asked my mother to press more flowers so I could create a jewelry collection. Each flower was initially electroformed in fine silver and later molded and cast in sterling silver. Since this craft is deeply connected to my childhood memories, I wanted to reference how children play and create jewelry with flowers. Many of the pieces in this collection are inspired by these acts, such as creating a flower headdress or simply hanging a flower around your ear or neck. The colored jade beads also reference the stereotypical doll beads found in pastel colors.
This exchange of crafts is a beautiful connection of events. A very nice connection of events is taking place in this exchange of crafts, when I am getting closer to my mother’s age from when I was a child, performing as well into a field of crafts but somehow different  Instead of replicating her actions, I’m taking her work and transforming it into something unique.

10. Adeliia Lisohor – @cup_of_rum

What is the piece of jewelery that can give you good mood, power and creativity? Why?
One of the most interesting pieces in my collection is the ring with Icelandic moss. It symbolizes the purity and untouched beauty of nature, and its texture seems to transport you into the depths of the natural world. These rings are unique because they preserve the structure and form of the real moss, giving each piece its own individuality and character.

What is the main concept of the collection for ROJW 2024 – and what we should look for (the most interesting / most precious piece in the collection, the one with the most interesting story)?
The main concept of the ROJW 2024 collection is a dialogue between nature and art, where each piece of jewelry becomes a work of art that captures a moment of life. These pieces carry deep meaning, reflecting the balance between life and eternity. This collection was created using the electroplating technique, literally encasing nature in metal, coating natural elements with copper and silver while preserving their natural beauty and details, giving them a unique appearance and durability. When you wear one of these pieces, you keep with you a fragment of the forest, nature that becomes eternal. The designs are inspired by vivid images of nature, including autumnal shades where the warmth of yellow and orange leaves in copper intertwines with the coolness of morning mist in silver.
