My top 7 pieces of jewellery at AUTOR 2018
Now I know what I want for my birthday: a contemporary jewellery fair every Saturday and… a limitless bank account. And that is because there were so many beautiful rings and innovative shapes, so many amazing necklaces and interesting materials at AUTOR 2018 (the 17th edition of AUTOR – contemporary and art jewellery fair) that it was really a tough decision to just pick one.
On 5th and 6th may, between 10.00-18.00, in the foyer of the main hall of the National Theatre Bucharest, over 80 designers from 28 countries will be on the 17th edition of AUTOR – contemporary and art jewellery fair. (www.dautor.ro )
What did I like at AUTOR 2018? I admired the new shapes of rings from Andreia Popescu, the cool big earrings from Zsofia Neuzer, the wooden pieces from Gligor Kuzmanovski, the beautiful unicorn from Novitas (Mariagiulia Trento won Molecule-F prize this edition) and the black bat from What If I Fly (I just need another one, please!). And, on top, these 7 pieces that I would go home with, anytime, anywhere.
The miniature necklace scene from Simeon Shomov (www.simoshomov.com), Bulgaria. Labyrinth with Love is the name of the necklace and I just loved it. “I hope that people will recognize part of their own soul hidden within my pieces of jewellery”, said the designer. I know I did.
The weird but funny… pair of glasses from the Xiaotong Si (China). I would wear them anytime if in doubt how to catch all the attention. 🙂
The colourfull brooch from Lucienne (Republic of Moldova). “The idea of creation arises from the soul of the artist worried by the need for aesthetic expression. Thirsty by the beautiful and ideal, will try to achieve perfection”, said the designer to present her beautiful pieces. (Facebook – https://www.facebook.com/Luciennes-jewelry-279947232130648/)
The lobster claw porcelain brooch from Raluca Buzura (Romania). “I tried to do something funny, and something that is, at the same time, easy to wear and to catch the eye”, said Raluca. My favourite was, definetely, the electric blue version. (Facebook Raluca Buzura – https://www.facebook.com/ralubuzura)
The architectural earrings from Deelyn Jewellery Design (UK) were the first things that I put on my wish list when I entered AUTOR fair, yesterday. Geometrical, delicate but strong at the same time. “I explored the geometric patterns and architectural structure and I brought them together to create bold wearable sculptures”, said the designer. The beautiful ring made out of resin by Cleopatra Coșulet (Romania), the focus designer at the 2018 edition of AUTOR international fair. Her collection is names “The World Inside” and it speaks about emotions and experiences. And she made us feel all the special emotions through her amazing pieces of jewellery. The UFO jewellery from Wanshu Li (China / UK). I loved the ring like an enormous jellyfish, from the collection “Go woth the Glow”, inspired by the brilliant colours and movements of sea creatures. The designer experimented with ultraviolet-reactive nylon and fluorescent paint to produce this intensity of colour. (www.liwanshu.co)
