Romanian Creative Week X Bucharest: the fashion collections I loved

It is #fashionseason again. And some of the coolest Romanian Designers presented their collections at Romanian Creative Week X Bucharest. Of course, I knew some of their pieces from alumni runways at Cluj, Timișoara or Bucharest, I saw some of the pieces also in Iași, in spring, at Romanian Creative Week. But the creativity, the cool mix of fresh designs, and beautiful setups surprise me every time. And these are the fashion collections I loved (for more images and exhibitions pictures – go to @alinaaliman Instagram account).

The young & cool designers

I loved the layerings in black and white from Ramona Bizbac (interview with the designer – here) and Genghiz Beghim (interview with the designer, at his firts collection at UAD Fashion Cluj-Napoca – here) and also the soft & edgy approach of Dragoș Constantine collection (interview at Iași RCW 2025 – here).

Who says grey isn’t the coolest shade? When it comes to fashion, grey was everywhere – from the long beautiful coat embellished with butterflies of Mara Popa (here & here interviews with the designer), the not-so-usual wool dress of Ionuț Răzvan and the caped long dress of Dani Radu.

Somebody said party? Well, party it is. With some cool outfits of Pif Stephano (interview after his first collection in Timișoara – here) and Robert Roca (interview here at Romanian Design Week 2024).

* The new dedicated section for them is called RFW New Wave, and RFW Academia is the name of the section that focuses on projects by students, master’s and doctoral students from the invited institutions. The four aesthetic directions in which the collections fall were: Game-Changer, Neo-avant-garde, Upcycling/Sustainability/Responsible design, Conceptual fashion. The curators and coordinators of the RFW New Wave section are: Lucian Broscățean and Ioana Ciolacu.

The voices of fashion

Oh, there were so many things that I loved… Starting with the live music at Laura Lazăr runway, with the beautiful idea of having books on a fashion catwalk at Scapadona, the cool cuts and amazing Romanian supermodels at Irina Schrotter, from the millions of sequins of Tudor Halațiu and the delicate lace from Lenca. Therefore…

The costumes – the beige casual one from Scapadona, the lace red from Lenca (read here the interview with the designer) or the grey asymmetrical and atypical grey suit of Caravasili (her first collection and the interview – here)?

The total black – it is very hard to choose from the rock’n roll vibe of Laura Lazăr (here – interview and more pictures with Laura and her designs) outfit or Ioana Ciolacu urban cool (an old but still actual interview with Ioana – here).

The unexpected – the interesting collection of Tearless Street and the blingy blitzy outfits of Tudor Halațiu – it is the party season soon, isn’t it?

He white, the delicacy, the details – seen in Axente collection, in the beautiful embroideries at BOL of nature by Oana Lupaș (a big applause for DeCorina hats – interview wit the hat maker – here) and the cool combos seen at Irina Schrotter.

* RFW / Romanian Designers – the section is dedicated to those who have transformed their passion into a successful brand on the Romanian and/or international market, who have demonstrated both their continuity on the fashion market and their desire to evolve. Whether we are talking about ready-to-wear, lingerie or active wear, all RFW collections have one very clear thing in common: creativity. Curator: Ovidiu Buta.
