The new Defender: a pretext for an off-road adventure

Yes, I had an off-road experience. Yes, it was mud all over me at the end of the day. And yes, it was fun to test the new Defender in a cold winter day, on hills and slopes, in a beautiful scenery in Romania.

The pretext… was an off-road adventure on Valea Doftanei to present the new Defender models. Well, to be very frankly, I don’t really need a pretext to test a new car, because you know already, I love to drive. Add to that a beautiful dinner at Atra Doftana and you have all the motifs. 

The drive… I’ll honestly admit that I don’t like mud, but I’ve always liked to understand how you have to drive to get over all kinds of rough terrain, how the car reacts if it gets too slippery, and most of all, how it should react the driver if he feels that he is getting stuck, how to get out of any situation. I wasn’t alone, of course, but with some specialised trainers, so it was a day with everything a driving enthusiast would dream of: with a trip with a Defender 90 from Bucharest (from the Land Rover – Premium Auto dealership to the wonderful Atra Doftana), with an escapade on the hills, on the snow, through the fields and accompanied by some cute foxes spotted in the fields, with exercises on… how not to get stuck in the mud and how to use all the attributes of the car to get out of any situation.

The exterior… well, I was lucky to get the nicest colour in the range. 🙂 And the car is pretty impressive.

The interior… is very elegant, almost too elegant for an off-road vehicle. I loved the camel leather I liked a lot the board and I found very useful the  mirrors (you can have live images in the mirrors). And you cannot imagine how good is to have a heated wheel on a winter frozen day. 

On my wish list because… I can go anywhere and not to be afraid that I will get stuck. 

Best match with… a snowboard gear, some rock’n roll boots and beautiful white sweaters perfect for the winter.
