Fashion Futurist: the beautiful exhibition of Pierre Cardin work

If you ask anybody about Pierre Cardin, the futurist Space Age fashion items will pop out from the memory. After all, Pierre Cardin geometric vocabulary has remained instantly recognisable to this day. The Kunstpalast, in Düsseldorf, presents the first major exhibition in Germany dedicated to the internationally renowned fashion designer, Pierre Cardin. Fashion Futurist.

Pierre Cardin (*1922) – couturier, designer, pioneer of prêt-à-porter fashion and marketing genius.

He was a visionary, whose design philosophy has always been to create things “for a lifestyle that does not yet exist – the world of tomorrow.”
Showing more than 80 styles, the exhibition in Germany offers an insight into Cardin’s creative world. The show focuses on the 1960s and 1970s, the period in which Cardin revolutionised the fashion scene with avant-garde designs.

Cardin made a name for himself in the world of fashion with his provocative, futurist collections, which were strikingly form-fitting and youthful. Using new materials such as plastic and vinyl, his fashion designs with their bold colours and trendy cuts stand for a new, more liberal outlook on life.
To this day, Pierre Cardin is the sole owner of his enterprise founded in Paris in 1950.
