Shoes: Pleasure and Pain, cool exhibition in London
I don’t know about you guys but, for me, there is no better therapy than shoes shopping. The clothes may be fun for a while, but shoes are always there to enjoy. But I don’t think I am the only one girl with a crush for beautiful shoes. Therefore, no wonder that somebody thought that is a perfect idea to put together over 200 pairs of shoes in a cool exhibition. At Victoria&Albert Museum in London, the “Shoes: Pleasure and Pain” exhibition is the final destination for all the fashionista. Why pleasure? We all know why. Why pain? Well… I am pretty certain that at least some of you know why. The ecstasy and the agony of a shoes’ lover.
About the exhibition: it includes, on two floors, a wide range from sandals decorated in pure gold leaf originating from ancient Egypt to the most elaborate and futuristic designs by contemporary shoe makers. We could find here the iconic Roger Vivier for Dior shoes, the high platforms from Vivienne Westwood (yes, those one that made Naomi Campbell to hit the floor of the catwalk), some Imelda Marcus’ shoes from her incredible collection, ballet slippers designed for Moira Shearer in the 1948 film “The Red Shoes” and some architectural shoes made by Zaha Hadid. Footwear for men and women by 70 named designers including Manolo Blahnik, Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo and Prada are on display. A film features interviews with five designers and makers: Manolo Blahnik, Sandra Choi, Caroline Groves, Marc Hare and Christian Louboutin.
From 13th of June to 31st of January 2016.
