What is the definition of fashion from your point of view? What does it mean to you, personally?

From my point of view, fashion is about stories: life stories, individualism and expressing or mirroring the experiences that we go through. It is an outlet for expression, and for me, that means creating figurative illustrations in a playful manner that best suit my personality and the pieces I like to create. I’ve always been a fan of doodles, character design and creating stories for each and every one of my collections. I think that the playful mini-figurines that are spread across the surfaces of my imprinted collection pieces can tell infinite stories: about childhood, playfulness and the beauty of living.

What is the biggest challenge for a designer nowadays?

I think the biggest challenge for a young designer nowadays is the fact that you always have to keep yourself motivated with fresh ideas, because you are in charge of your own creations. That is not a bad thing, I think it’s beautiful to always search for new ways to inspire yourself and learn constantly. Storytelling is an artform in itself, and you can always create new ways to keep yourself excited about your craft. That is indeed a challenge, and at the same time – an exciting journey.

The icon piece that will always be in your collections is…

The icon piece that will always be in my collections is the shirt. It represents a blank canvas, it can be anything you want it to be: a white shirt with an exaggerated collar with sharp edges, a shirt-dress that is flowy, or a printed shirt with puffy sleeves. Throughout history, the shirt has taken many forms and has remained a staple, a must-have piece in every wardrobe. It inspires me to create timeless aesthetics and silhouettes.

About your work at RDW 2023 we should know…

Momo project is intended to be a humoristic an ludique work that operates with memories and nostalgia. With the help of all the graphics, the project makes the connection between art and culture. In the center of the project, the artist put an eccentric character, who gradually build his (her) style and his communication with himself (herself).

What is next for you this year? Collections, personal projects, exhibitions?

This year I’ll be working on my portfolio, expanding the mediums through which I create the illustrations and the prints for my collections. I aspire to create children’s books and new characters and stories for my fashion collections. The children’s stories will be translated into ready-to-wear pieces of kids clothing. Moreover, I’ll be participating in the Romanian Design Week art festival as a young designer and in the Feeric Fashion Week fashion festival, where I will be presenting a few pieces designed with a sustainability mindset.
