Look closely at the new generation of young Romanian fashion designers and their interesting collections. Today, from the Young Design chapter of Romanian Design Week 2023, I present you Anamaria Vișovan, a young designer (alumni of Timișoara Art & Design school).
What is the definition of fashion, from your point of view? What does it mean to you, personally?
Fashion means experiment, self expression, individuality or it could be a way that the capitalist world can make profit. Fashion can be a lot of things, for me it means identity.
What is the biggest challenge for a young designer nowadays?
I guess it’s the way we make things, like the way we perceive our input into the fashion world or the way we cope with the fear of failure, which I think is keeping us in the same place. I think that action is what can get us to succeed.
The icon piece that will always be in your collections is… (& why?)
The icon piece might be a full length oversized dress. I am fascinated by the grandiosity of larger constructed pieces.
About the works presented by Anamaria Vișovan at RDW 2023…
“The Agony of The Garden” has the main purpose to exercise a new direction, at the confluence of art, fashion & ethics, using natural fabrics as silk, cotton or recycled leather. The main inspiration is the nature and this is represented by a handmade print – as a protest against digital prints. From used, abandoned and ignored clothes some new and valuable pieces can be obtain.
What is next, for you, this year? Collections, personal projects, exhibitions etc.
I already have a few exhibitions that I will be taking part of, for this year I have planed to start my Phd collection and thesis. It is quite a full year, with great experiences.
Young Design by DIPLOMA Show comes with a fresh perspective from the new generation of Romanian architects and designers, in a multi-disciplinary exhibition, “Connexion”. More than 20 exhibitors will present their projects (architecture, product design, graphic design and fashion). A selection curated by DIPLOMA Show.
