Jacquemus, first resort collection: a very French impression
Two times finalist for LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers, with fresh and unconventional design, Simon Porte Jacquemus, the 25-year-old autodidact behind the eponymous brand Jacquemus surprised us again. After a clown-like collection and two-faced make-up we saw on the catwalk in his Fall-Winter 2015 collection, Jacquemus presented his first resort collection, entitled “Valérie”. The pictures with French actress Joana Preiss were shoot in the gardens (and lavender fields) of his childhood home from South of France.
Keeping to a sober palette of monochromes warmed with a touch of sandy taupe, this collection did credit to the more nuanced, ingenious touches to Jacquemus’s work, something that his runway theatrics often overshadow, yet which consistently populate the urban wardrobe reality of his designs. What we can find in it? Pinstripe-on-white shirt-dresses, bustier tops draped like tricolor flags from a giant steel ring and his first shoe models.
