Haute-à-Porter exhibition: 30 years of fashion design
When I think of haute-couture I imagine complicated dresses with a history, sometimes unwearable on the street, handcrafted and with a million details on them. But… wait! Today, a lot of the contemporary prêt-à-porter look exactly like that: extravagant and spectacular outfits are seen at the Fashion Weeks (the street style show is sometimes even better than the actual catwalk inside), the clothes are more an more unique and personalized and the details aren’t missing at all. Therefore, the Haute-à-Porter exhibition in Belgium, at the Modemuseum Hasselt examines this question further and researches the changing relationship and cross-fertilization between haute couture and ready to wear.
