Art Encounters 2021: time for Our Other Us

The art is our salvation in uncertain times. And our oasis of relaxation, beauty and poetry when we want to escape from the (not so nice, sometimes) reality. And those dozens of art works presented this year at Art Encounters 2021 are just the perfect motivation to plan an escape at Timișoara.

* There are 4 exhibitions – two curatorial projects proposed by Mihnea Mircan and Kasia Redzisz, plus a complex program of film screenings, as well as the historical exhibition Seasons End. Then, the invited exhibition, The Secret Wing, curated by Maria Rus Bojan and Bogdan Ghiu and organized by the Triad Foundation and the National Museum of Art Timisoara, presenting the fascinating relationship between poetry and contemporary art.

* The exhibitions will be presented in the following spaces: ISHO Offices, ISHO Pavilion, Art Encounters Foundation, “Corneliu Miklosi” Public Transport Museum, Timișoara National Art Museum, French Institute, Helios Gallery and FABER Cultural Center. 

Under the title of Our Other Us, the 2021 edition of the Art Encounters Biennial will focus on the various types of cohabitation that we can project. This year’s Biennial is heavily influenced by the reflections and the projections that we all build in relation to ourselves and the Other, to boundaries and distances, to proximities and contacts, to the inward and the outward, and contemporary art is the most faithful reflection of all these dynamics.
