This year, my attention was stolen by the two Portuguese designers at ROJW. Organic forms, links to the nature, interesting materials. Meet João dos Bichos & Paula Castro, 2 Portuguese jewelry designers to watch at ROJW 2026.

João dos Bichos – @João Oliveira / www.estudiobichos.pt

The collection name: Rather than presenting a conventional, static collection, my body of work is an ongoing morphological investigation – a continuous ecosystem of mutant objects and structures of the unconscious.
The main message of the collection presented at ROJW 2026… The pieces I will be presenting at ROJW result from an intuitive and experimental process, from a research into composition, scale and a process of collecting and preserving elements as basic building blocks. The impulse, the intention, and the choice, conscious and unconscious, guide the creation and compose the objects, the morphological worlds I create, the structures of the unconscious. My work is a mutant, and one doesn’t ask a mutant what it is or what it’s for. There is something revolutionary in creating something that is not an utility.
Out of all the fashionable things, I chose to focus on jewelry because… The materials, the history, the creation methods and the scale, the body acts as a unit of measurement, allowing small worlds to exist alongside our macro reality.
The perfect piece of jewelry, the perfect city to wear it in, and the music that goes with it are… A mutant object that feels like it was unearthed from the ground of another solar system. Coimbra, Portugal, always. Vril – Haus (Rework).

Paula Castro – @paulacastrolittlenothing / www.littlenothing.pt

The collection name: Nature Details.
The main message of the collection presented at ROJW 2026… Nature is resilient but also fragile. Do not destroy Nature!
Out of all the fashionable things, you chose to focus on jewelry because… It has a message, a story. It is a strong sign of what I believe on. I show to the others what is important to me, what are my principles and believes in life.
The perfect piece of jewelry, the perfect city to wear it in, and the music that goes with it are… A bark tree brooch, while strolling in Stavanger (Norway) and listening to: Yann Tiersen (The Jetty).
