#whitemood: absolute romanticism in CHANEL fall/winter 2020 collection
| March 19, 2020
“A very simple, very pure momentum. Romanticism but without any flourishes. Emotions but without any frills,” explained Virginie Viard, the designer of house Chanel, the moodboard for Chanel fall/winter 2020 collection. And romanticism we saw – a lot of white, clean cuts, classic textures.
All the products will be available on www.chanel.com.
“I love CHANEL so much, this collection could only be a new ode”, said the designer. Therefore, she found her inspiration in Gabrielle Chanel legacy and her passion for horses, in the 80s archive of the fashion house, in monochrome palette defining Chanel.
About the collection itself…
- … lots of black and white, some touches of green and some pink and liliac.
- … almost no dresses, just casaques (jockey silks); jodhpurs that open over seven-league boots, a nod to those belonging to Karl (inspiration came from an image in 1980, with his sometime muse Anna Piaggi).
- … jewelled belts, scallop edging, XL pearl accessories, chunky chain necklaces, worn with thick plastic bangles.
- … mixed textures as tweed suits, corduroy trousers, lace and fussy ruffled blouses.
- … the branded press studs – cool replacement for the house’s signature buttons on jackets and coat dresses.
