Top 7 sneakers for the summer

Flats or high heels for this summer? None of these: I will plead for sneakers (well, excepting the black tie events, of course). With jeans, pleated skirts, shorts, maxi fluid dresses… you name it! And because everybody wants to be unique, the new brands or interesting models are in the spotlight. On one hand, Raf Simmons (Dior) imagined cool pairs for Adidas, as well as Valentino, Gucci, Saint Laurent or Burberry Prorsum were eager to send sporty models on the catwalk. On the other hand, the street style photographers couldn’t decide what sneakers were better worn by the fashionista at Fashion Weeks… Well, I think it’s time to look for new challenges.

So, this is the top 7 sneakers for this summer. And let’s start with Fendi’s Karlito model (pictured below), from a capsule collection, designed to look like the label’s creative mastermind, Karl Lagerfeld. With that fury accessory, they became fun and girlish. Warning: not suitable for anyone with a cat in the house! (www.net-a-porter.com)

The second choice comes from Sweden. Axel Arigato is a fresh brand, with cutting edge design combining the best materials you can find and an infinite attention to details. Pictured: the grey ostrich sneakers model, perfect for almost every outfit I want to try this season. (www.axelarigato.com)

Italians do it better, it’s a saying: so let’s get back to Italy and try one of the master Giuseppe Zanotti designs. Proposed for spring/summer 2016 collection, the sneakers carry the mark of the brand: elegant, but with a rock vibe, leather with zippers, buckles and flashy metal accessories. The fourth stop is in France, at Eugène Riconneaus. His designs, somewhere between a skateboarder’s obsession and high-end fashion are made to be objects of desire. This pair of sneakers remind me of those I had in high-school (and I was very proud of them). (www.eugenericonneaus.com)

Founded by two Australian brothers in New York City, Feit is an interesting brand, defined by its makers as “a neoluxury footwear and accessories company”. The shoes are very cool, minimalist, and handmade (from cutting the leather pieces to stitching them together) in limited volumes. (www.feitdirect.com)

We cannot forget Maison Martin Margiela, with models in black/white/grey, with minimalist lines. The perfect choice for an androgynous look? Masion Margiela Future Low model. (www.net-a-porter.com)

Last, but not least: Joshua Sanders and his bowed sneakers pairs. The pics of the latest creations of the designer (with the motto “Heart in NYS, Made in Italy”) were all over the Instagram lately. For a good reason: could you not fall in love with these adorable and yet comfortable sneakers? (www.joshua-sanders.com)
