Street Art Festival – Urban Art Artown NOW at 4th edition

I am always looking for street art when I am away (if you don’t take my word for granted – read here about an Portuguese artist that I have discovered in many cities or read here about street art in the world). But let’s not divagate because I was so so happy to see that there is a dedicated event for street art in Romania. And even happier to see, live, all the beautiful art works on the building, on the walls, in a city that is growing. Urban Art Artown NOW is at its 4th edition and it is a must-see! (Up- Alex Baciu mural – Romania)

My favorites…

Well, when I started to write this, I thought it would be simple. But it is not. Because there are now, in Ploiești, more than 80 murals & artworks spread around the city – (22 new murals, 17 sculptures, over 50 urban interventions, 4 trams, 9 exhibitions at UZUC factory, 6 urban furniture. 

But, at the first glance, NeSpoon (Poland) with the giant crochet / Ellena Lourens (South Africa) / Eric Schwartz (ComicBlues – Germnay) / Alex Baciu (Romania) / Twee Muizen (Spain), Checkos (Italy) / Loreta Isca (Romania), Andrei Costache (Romania). Emily Aldrige, But I could go on and on with the list… Do not miss the tours and take a moment to find out every story of every mural in the city. And find all the artistic intervention (from ceramics to textile or wood & steel) spread around the city.

The idea…

Cities grow not only through buildings and streets, but also through stories. After three editions of Artown Festival, which brought art to the heart of Ploiești, the event became the Artown NOW Urban Art Annual. The theme of the 2025 edition of Artown NOW is Genius Loci – The Spirit of Place. The artists talk about what they have learned best: how the invisible force of spaces shapes all of us, how the memory of the city mixes with the present, and how art brings it all together and brings it all to light.

Between September 12 and October 12, 2025, Artown NOW will celebrate with the community all the results of this edition, through exhibitions, poetry evenings, guided city tours, concerts and workshops. The events will take place at UZUC, the space that Artown NOW has transformed into a cultural factory, using industry as a support for culture.
