Fancy a Cuban? Here is perfect Chanel Cruise Collection bag…

Legendary Buick, Oldsmobile and Cadillac prints on the dresses, a perfectly pacific military parade, with adorable shorts and jacket suits in denim and khaki tweed, the guayabera, the traditional Cuban shirt with pockets, shoulder tabs and flat pleats, Panama hats, jackets and dresses with scooped necklines while pencil skirts liberate the movement for a hypnotic rhumba, woven flip-flops, caged sandals worn over cheeky ankle socks, crocheted backpacks, soft bundle bags with multi-colored local snail patterns, and of course, the “cigar box” reticule, a nod to the Cocohiba… This is how the Chanel Cruise collection 2016/2017 , presented by Karl Lagerfeld in Havana looked like. What I loved? The bags, the perfect reinterpretation of classical Chanel models in a Cuban mood board. (CLICK on the gallery above, for more pictures)

Who was there? Everybody, but Lagerfeld’s muses took the first row: Vanessa Paradis, Gisele Bündchen and Alice Dellal, Gaspard Ulliel, Tilda Swinton, Marine Vacth, Alma Jodorowsky, Ana de Armas and Geraldine Chaplin.

The show took place on the Paseo del Prado, Havana’s main artery and symbol of the links uniting Cuba and France: the Prado was redesigned in 1928 by a French landscape architect who at every crossroads positioned eight spectacular bronze statues of lions, Mademoiselle Chanel’s fetish animal. The palette is inspired by the vibrant baroque facades of the old town: yellow, pink, orange, turquoise, bright green burst and sparkle over the marvellous sequines and embroideries, as well as by the tobacco tones. Qué bolá Coco!
