A cool chic French brand: Iris Cantabri

The brand Iris Cantabri is young (2014) but the designs are powerful enough to catch the eye. So they did, in my visit to Designer’s Apartment this Fashion Week in Paris. Light and structured silhouettes, on which a meticulous variety of fabrics is explored going from the lightness of the crêpe to the annels’ softness. The Sweat and military jacquard merge, collars and cuff encounter the plissé, cuts are stressed by the pipings, XXL or open sleeves evoke the body, reinventing the silhouette. I loved the collection, and how can I do other way, as long as the palette of shades is passing from cocooning white cotton to light blue jersey, jaquard dark blue patches and deep purple? Guillaume Michel, the designer of the brand admits that he usually found his inspiration for his collections in nature, in Zaha Hadid’s works and the ancient embroidery. Therefore, the clothes unite traditional handcrafting with super-modern technology in some interesting pieces.
“The Fall Winter 2016/17 collection is an ode to Pre-Raphaelite femininity. A manifesto through light and structured silhouettes, and the iconic design of shapes and volumes, Iris Cantabri’s spearhead”, underlined the designer Guillaume Michel.
Guillaume Michel joined the Ecole de la Chambre Syndical de la Couture Parisienne to acquire the basics of job. After different professional experiences in famous fashion houses like Emmanuel Ungaro and Alexis Mabille, he created his own house.
