Christian Dior’s New Look: the history of an icon

Two more months to go! Where? At Granville, in Normandy, where the The Musée Christian Dior presents a stunning exhibition entitled “Dior, The New Look Revolution”. This return to sources explores the designer’s original inspirations and illustrates the invention of a revolutionary new style. Do you remember the first Dior haute couture collection in 1947? Maybe not entirely, but certainly we all remember the Bar suit, with rounded tails that followed the curves of the chest over a long pleated skirt. The exhibition follows the history of the Bar suit, from those times to the modern-day icon, drawing on archive documents, as well as contemporary Dior designs inspired by that unique New Look style.

To celebrate the event and pay tribute to the creative genius of its founder, Dior shot its Fall/Winter 2015-2016 campaign around the Granville family home. Raf Simons’ animal-inspired prints and long thigh boots are captured against the Normandy cliffs that marked Monsieur Dior’s childhood. Until 1st of November 2015. (www.musee-dior-granville.com)
