Let’s play! New collection by Mira Mikati

Colors that make me think of Manga drawings, patterns that transport me on the streets full of graffiti, cool clothes perfectly fit for a casual-sporty day or for a nice afternoon in the city: the Spring/Summer 2016 collection by Mira Mikati is designed for those days when I need a good laugh. For this collection, recently launched in Paris at Paris Fashion Week, Mira Mikati, Lebanese-born, Paris-raised designer, worked with artist KAWS. “I’ve been a huge fan for his work for some time – I started collecting his toys over ten years ago”, said Mikati in a recent interview. “I love the fact that his pieces are always so happy, and full of my favourite cartoon characters: Snoopy, SpongeBob, The Smurfs, Mickey Mouse…” The line features three brightly-colored styles, each of which has undergone an intricate detailed process of appliqué, print and embroidery – making for a uniquely wearable piece of art. My favorite pieces? The coat with written lines on the sleeves, the dress with cactus drawings and, of course, the white bomber jacket. Lovely! Mira Mikati began her fashion career in 2007, designed a capsule collection for Parisian label Faconable. The capsule collection of bomber jackets designed with KAWS is available to pre-order exclusively on www.colette.fr. Other products on www.miramikati.com.
