Your personal Basquiat bag

For sure, this was the art year! From interior design pieces to T-shirts, from shoes with their artistic heels to bags, everything was art-related in the fashion world. Therefore, Olympia Le-Tan couldn’t stay out of the trend and imagined a pretty Basquiat bag, celebrating the biggest exhibition of the artist recently opened at Fondation Louis Vuitton. 

The collection will be available as of next week in selected retailers: Net-A- Porter, Matches, Bergdorf Goodmans and L’Éclaireur, among others.

Olympia Le-Tan’s unique pieces for its collaboration with Basquiat are now exposed at the Fondation Louis Vuitton special exhibition of Jean-Michel Basquiat from October 3rd until January 14th 2019, marking the collection’s worldwide debut at retail. 

Three of the collection’s bags have been curated for the exhibition to represent Basquiat’s daring spirit: Pez Dispenser, the iconic crown and Brown Spots; a portrait of Andy Warhol as a banana. 

For this limited, capsule collection, Jean-Michel Basquiat’s artwork was the inspiration for Olympia Le-Tan’s designers’ whimsical hand-embroidered clutches and bags. Each piece combines Basquiat’s avant-garde style with Olympia Le-Tan’s own imaginative force, resulting in a collection of “wearable” art. With 3 book clutches and 6 handbags, Olympia Le-Tan has stitched together the world of fashion and art, into unique collector’s pieces that will impress and delight.
