Fashion taking off – the 5th edition of Arad Fashion Days
As promised… there year I landed in Arad, for the 5th edition of Arad Fashion Days. Not just landed, but ready to take off, in the company of some of the talented designers in Romania. 2 years of catwalk runways in Arad Airport Terminal, more than 40 designers to see, a pretty time (for the first time seen), good friends and a lot of fun. Oh, yes, and some projects with young designers ready to be shown here, on the blog. How did the 5th edition of Arad Fashion Days look like? Let’s see…

Day 1…
… has started with a bit of a show (Cătălin Botezatu trademark) and a Greek theme. I have seen again some collections of young designers (students or graduates of the Fashion Universities in Romania) – Ramona Vlădeanu from UnARTE and her obsession for laces, the enormous puffer jacket from Ionuț Răzvan (also from UnARTE 2023 – read here about all the collections presented by the students this year), the leather pieces from Andrea Kovacs (MDVTM), Ana Maria Voicu interesting pieces (UnARTE) and Vineri 13 collection from the talented Gabriela Baboș (MDVTM – read the interview with the designer – here).
I liked the neutral tones used by Cristina Lazăr in her collection and the Miruna Petrescu all black outfits, but I also have appreciated the details in Mihnea Kovaci red pieces, the cuts in Dara Totin skirts, the metallic touches in Dani Radu collection and the perfectly cut blazers in Kalapod collection. And I loved the fabric and the shape of Paul Micsa black collection. The white & knitting collection of Amavi was pretty interesting, as well as the party dresses from Aura Dumitru.
I have discovered two new names (from Moldavia) – Anna Slobodeniuk and Eva Ostorskaia. And, for the end of the evening, I made my mind: Ana Farîma was one of my favourite – stay tuned, soon will read here an interview with the designer (and see mot pictures with her sculptural pieces).
Day 2…
… was busy as usual. A lot of students form UnARTE, UAD Fashion (read here about the collections from the 2023 generation) and MDVTM and some special guest have embarked for a fashionable journey at Arad Airport Terminal 2. I could see again (and remember the Gala 2023 of students from Timișoara Fashion School – read here) Ana Maria Capraru and her story about Danube Delta, Andrada Negru with her delicate combo of navy blue and soft cream, Edith Gresko and her Burtonesque collection, Denisa Țărcuș and reinterpreted denim, Mario Birdean giving a new life of some deconstructed blazers (read here the interview with Mario Birdean).
I liked Larisa Croitoru styling and her dresses, I admired the interesting pieces from Maria Comisaru and the delicate tops of Sheepjoy collection, the collection of Urbanfit group of students, the metallic colours of Cosette, the blue prints that opened Miruna Pavel runway and the sequinned outfits of Tudor Halațiu extravaganza (read here an interview with Tudor at his first collection). A special mention goes to Narcis Stoica and his outfits, to Denis Guțan constructions and to Raul Matiș (UAD) leather cape. Antonia Nae runway (and it was quite a runway!) closed the evening with an explosion of lace, leather, black and smokey make-up.
My favourite of the evening? Mara Popa, a designer graduated at Timișoara, now at Master at UAD Fashion, with a beautiful collection with prints and insects – stay tuned, soon on my blog some new photos with her outfits and an interview with the designer).
Until next year, stay cool & fashionable. See you at Arad #6!
