Silvaplana, Switzerland: the hip place to be right now

The sun and the sea are for relaxation. But the snow, the awesome white is, for sure, about memories: the first skating lesson, the crisp air in the morning, the light reflected by the long slopes on the mountains. Therefore, no wonder that in a cold day of December I want to go in Switzerland. More precisely, in Silvaplana, Switzerland. At Nira Alpina. Here is why.

Silvaplana Nira Alpina

First of all, Silvaplana is not so much known as St. Moritz (even it is only five kilometers away). Second of all, Nira Alpina hotel (more accurate, the glass-and-timber-built mountain sanctuary, at the gateway to some of Switzerland’s highest mountains) is basically situated on the slope. So I could able to ski right up to the entrance (I am not such an experimented skier, and I am more scared of ski lifts then of skiing itself).

Thirdly, Nira Alpina is the work of the award-winning hotelier Puri (the third hotel that Puri has opened since striking out on his own in 2008 after four decades working for some of the world’s biggest hotel brands, including Rosewood, Ritz-Carlton, Raffles, Fairmont, and Peninsula), who has created a soothing space for travelers to enjoy the Swiss Alpine style and unobstructed views of the mountains. Then, a typical meal might well include classic favourites from Thailand, India, Italy and Japan (some things that have nothing to do with meat dishes, and that is perfect for me).
